Standard Poodles
Personality:
Standard poodles activity levels can range anywhere from quiet couch potatoes to high energy...ready for anything dogs. A good breeder will try to match their puppies personality with the lifestyle of their new family. Poodles are highly intelligent, creative, adaptable, trainable, low-shedding, people loving, even disposition family dogs. Did I say clever?

What a poodle needs to thrive:
A Forever Home - Bringing a dog into your family must be a loving lifetime commitment. We will always take a dog back in the event circumstances change and you are no longer able to care for it. We have a lifetime commitment to our puppies.
Regular Grooming - Once a month they need regular grooming. You can learn to groom yourself or use a professional groomer. There are a wide variety of styles ranging from low to high maintenance.
Family - Poodles love to hike, swim, play, hunt, and participate in everything you do. A poodle develops strong emotional ties to its family and thrives on living closely with them.
Exercise -A fenced yard or regular walking is necessary for daily exercise. Many poodles love to retrieve so a tennis ball,or favorite toy makes for great fun and exercise.
Quality Food and Medical Care - High quality food, and medical care including recommended vaccinations. We use and recommend the Dr. Jean Dodd DVM vaccination schedule.
Socialization - This is the fun part of living with a poodle, take them anywhere you go that is dog safe, introduce them to new people and environments a little at a time so they will enjoy being with you. Be prepared to spend time daily with your new puppy to let them experience the world. The best breeding and socialization by a breeder is never meant to replace the new owner's responsibility of providing ongoing socialization.
Training - Any dog that is trained in basic manners is much easier to live with. The basics should include walking quietly at your side on a leash, sit, stay, lie down, come, housebreaking,no mouthing or jumping, and behaving with manners around other people and animals. A basic obedience class at a quality training facility will help to make your puppy a great friend.
Understanding, Patience, Love
Be prepared to live with your puppy into adulthood and through geriatric years. Standard poodles live 10-17 years.
At different stages in your poodles life they will have different needs. You will be greatly rewarded by the love and devotion of your standard poodle.
